On the back of nationwide calls for an end to violence against women and children, a horrific story is coming out of Durban's western suburbs.
Four children have been murdered and police are on the hunt for the suspect.
Police Spokesperson Thembeka Mbele says the investigation is still in an early stage but for now, they are looking for the father.
Mbele says the bodies of two boys and a girl, aged 4, 6 and 10-years, were found inside their home in Wyebank on Tuesday afternoon.
They had been hanged.
She says their mother became worried after receiving a call from the school notifying her that the children's father, who also lives with them, had gone to fetch them.
Mbele says this was out of the ordinary.
The mother became suspicious and immediately went to the police who accompanied her to her house where the bodies were discovered.
Police continued with their investigations and officers were led to a high school in Durban.
It is alleged that the man came to fetch his 17-year-old stepdaughter at her school. Police continued their search and found her body hanging from a tree in New Germany.
