Former tennis ace in court for rape

Former grand slam tennis champion Bob Hewitt is scheduled to go on trial in Boksburg from Monday.

He faces two charges of rape and one of indecent assault.

Seventy-three-year-old Hewitt, who resides in Addo in the Eastern Cape, was charged in 2013 with the rape of a girl at Sun City in 1981and in Boksburg in 1982.

The indecent assault charge relates to the alleged sexual assault of a girl under 18 also in Boksburg in 1994.

Hewitt has denied the charges.
