Former Port Elizabeth businessman back in court for fraud

The fraud trial of former Port Elizabeth businessman, Theunis Crous, has been set down for trial in the city's commercial crimes court.
The state alleges that between November 2010 and January 2011, Crous as director of Ho Hup Corporation, allegedly defrauded the SA Revenue Service by submitting false invoices to claim VAT refunds.
Court documents reveal that Sars suffered actual prejudice of more than three million rand and potential prejudice of over 1 and a half million -rand.
Crous, who currently resides in Johannesburg did not attend court proceedings on Friday, due to an undisclosed 'medical condition'.
He is also no stranger to the courts and controversy.
It has been reported that between 2009 and 2010 Crous allegedly paid former Eastern Cape health department officials to "expedite" payments owed to Ho Hup Corporations.
Crous also made headlines for his infamous relationship with actress and socialite Khanyi Mbau.
His fraud trial starts on the 20th of November in the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court.
