Former Plettenberg Bay teacher in court on a charge of sexual assault


A former Plettenberg Bay teacher accused of sexually assaulting his six-year-old granddaughter is set to appear in the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

The 64-year-old teacher, who taught at  Wittedrift High School just outside Plettenberg Bay, was arrested last December for allegedly showing pornographic material to the little girl and for instructing her to touch his private parts in August 2012.

He is currently out on bail.

Meanwhile, a 52-year-old Knysna teacher who is accused of sexually abusing a girl at Fraaisig Primary School in 2013, made another court appearance on Wednesday.

The case against the man, who has been teaching for 31 years, was postponed to August 20th for trial.

He's out on bail of R4000.
