The former Deputy Minister for Defence, Mluleki George, will be laid to rest in an official send-off in his home village of Kwa-Qongqotha, outside King Wiliams Town on Tuesday.
This, after President Cyril Ramaphosa, declared the service a Special Provincial Funeral Category Two.
The Eastern Cape government said the liberation struggle veteran had served in a number of leadership positions in the country including as a community development champion and sports administrator.
He was also a Member of Parliament and served in the National Executive where he was appointed Deputy Minister for Defence.
“The declaration of the former Deputy Minister’s official funeral was issued on condition that there shall be full compliance with regulation 11B, sub-regulation 8, of the COVID-19 lockdown regulations,” Bhisho said.
George died last week at the age of 72.
