Former Kouga mayor heads to Bhisho

DA

The Democratic Alliance has announced that former Kouga Municipality mayor, Horatio Hendricks, will be moving to Bhisho.

He was appointed as a DA member in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature following the resignation of Edmund van Vuuren.

DA Provincial leader, Andrew Whitfield, said Hendricks was “identified as the best candidate by the party's selection panel.”

He said the PR councillor vacancy created by Hendricks' move, has been filled by Gregory Stuurman from Loerie.

Whitfield said Deputy Mayor Hattingh Bornman would be the acting mayor in the interim until a new mayor is elected at the council meeting scheduled for Friday.

“Hendricks was elected as Kouga mayor following the tragic passing of former Mayor Elza Van Lingen in 2018. Since then he has ensured that the DA government has made massive strides in turning the fortunes of Kouga around,” he said.
