A former East London policeman has been jailed for 15 years for shooting his wife nearly four years ago.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate said Sakhiwo Sifama was sentenced on Wednesday for killing his wife, Lumka Dastile-Sifama, in their garden cottage in Greenfields in May 2018.
He also shot himself, and was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but survived.
IPID spokesperson, Grace Langa, said Sifama was a Constable stationed at the East London Public Order Policing Unit.
She said he resigned before internal disciplinary proceedings against him commenced.
