Former EC SAPS admin clerk arrested for skipping court date

A former administration clerk for the SA Police Service in the Eastern Cape has been arrested in Boksburg for failing to appear in court in Zwelitsha on charges of fraud and corruption.

Hawks Eastern Cape spokesperson, Captain Anelisa Feni, said Nomfundo Shushu-Madubela, was also wearing a police uniform at the time of her arrest on Thursday.

Feni said she appeared in court in Boksburg, before returning to the Eastern Cape to make another court appearance in the Zwelitsha Magistrate's Court on Monday.

Shushu-Madubela, who worked in the SAPS's Provincial Office's supply chain management section, was arrested in 2014 with ten other people on charges of fraud and corruption related to procurement of a tender.

The group will be back in court on those charges on the 15th of January next year.
