Foreign nationals in court for stealing copper

Two Mozambican citizens will appear in the Ladismith Magistrates Court in the Western Cape this morning, for the alleged theft of copper cables valued at R42,000.

Police spokesperson, Captain Malcom Pojie says police in Ladismith were alerted on Tuesday morning by operators about an alleged cable theft along the Barrydale road.

The two suspects are aged 23 and 31.

Members of the Hawks' Organised Crime Unit based in George recovered seven rolls of copper cable weighing about 700kg.

Both suspects were arrested within 2 days with the help of the farming community and members of the Sanbona Nature Resort.
