Foreign national in court for EC farm murders


 A 22-year-old Lesotho national is expected to appear in court today in connection with a double farm murder.

The man was arrested last week in connection with the murders of Barkley East farmer Dawid de Villiers and his wife, Ralie, who were both in their eighties.

He also faces a charge of attempted murder for the attack on their 53-year-old son Dawie, who is still in hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds in the attack.

The bodies of the De Villiers' couple were found by their daughter, Christina, who is a doctor in Barkley East.

Farmers and residents of this normally quiet towns is expected to pack the court room on Tuesday. The throats of Dawid and his wife Ralie, were slit last week and their son seriously injured in the attack. It was reported earlier that the killings seemed to have been linked to a satanic ritual. Family and friends are meanwhile preparing for the murdered couples memorial serviuce which will be held on Wednesday.
