Five people were killed while two survived a horror accident on the R72 about five kilometres outside Alexandria in the Eastern Cape.
Eastern Cape Transport Department spokesperson, Unathi Binqose, said a truck with two passengers and a car with four adults and a minor, collided at around 2 pm on Monday afternoon.
"Both vehicles collided head-on, and all five occupants from a light motor vehicle were burnt beyond recognition as their vehicle caught fire after the impact," Binqose said.
He said the truck driver and his passenger escaped unhurt.
A case of culpable homicide was opened at Alexandria SAPS for further investigation.
