Five people died in a fire that engulfed a house in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
Police arrested one person and are searching for a second suspect who they believe deliberately set the house alight in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
This apparently followed an argument between the suspects and the victims, aged between 20 and 33, and who have not yet been named.
Provincial police spokesperson, Captain Khaya Tonjeni, said that forensic investigators found the bodies of four men and a woman in a house in Gerald Spilkin Street.
“A fifth male was seriously injured and taken to hospital in critical condition,” he said.
Tonjeni said the arrested suspect will appear in court on Friday on charges of murder and arson.
He said the arrest of the second suspect “was imminent”.
