Police are investigating the murders of five men whose charred remains were found near Peddie on Saturday evening.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the bodies were discovered at the back of a Corsa bakkie on the R365.
She said at around 20:45 on Saturday, the police were alerted to a burning vehicle on the road.
Naidu said when the fire department arrived they found no passengers in the front of the vehicle.
She says the bodies were discovered after the fire was extinguished.
Naidu said an inquest docket was opened pending the outcome of the post-mortem report.
Colonel Naidu is appealing to communities in East London and Peddie to contact police if they know of any missing people to assist with identifying the deceased.
