A 29-year-old man was sentenced to five life terms by the Lady Frere Regional Court for raping five school children aged between six and 11.
Eastern Cape police said Khanyisa Xolo was convicted and sentenced this week for the crimes committed last year.
Spokesperson, Colonel Sibongile Soci said the case against him involving a sixth child is yet to be finalised.
She said Xolo attacked the children on 16 October 2019 while they were on their way to school at Maqhashu Locality near the town.
He was arrested the following day after being identified by the girls who knew him from the village.
Eastern Cape Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga commended the investigating officer for his meticulous work and the NPA for the successful conviction.
