Five people were killed yesterday afternoon in an accident on the N2 between King William's Town and Peddie.
Provincial Traffic Deputy Director Charles Bramwell says the accident happened around 1.15 pm when a White Toyota Fortuner with two occupants collided with a White Mazda Midge which had five passengers.
The Mazda vehicle was coming out of Noncampa village joining the N2 when the crash happened.
All five occupants of the Mazda Midge, three women and two men, were killed.
The two occupants of the Fortuner were slightly injured and were transported to St Dominic's Hospital in East London for further treatment.
Bramwell says a Road Traffic Management crash investigation team in Conjunction with the police are investigating the cause of the crash.
The MEC for Transport Weziwe Tikana - Gxothiwe has conveyed her condolences to the deceased's' families and has urged motorist to exercise extra caution when using public roads with the upcoming festive season.
