Five people were killed in two separate road accidents in the Eastern Cape on Friday evening.
Provincial Traffic spokesperson Charles Bramwell says in the first accident just before 8 pm, three people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision on the Addo road opposite the cemetery near Motherwell, Port Elizabeth.
He says in the second accident at around 10 pm, a single vehicle lost control and overturned after hitting a cow on the R61 between Covimbaba and Komani, previously Queenstown.
Bramwell says two passengers died at the scene, while one other person was slightly injured and taken to hospital.
Police are investigating cases of culpable homicide.
