Five people have been killed following a head-on collission between a Hyundai mini truck and Isuzu Bakkie.
The accident happened late on Friday afternoon on the R75 between Kariega and Graaff Reinet.
A spokesperson for Provincial Traffic Unathi Binqose says the truck with two male occupants from Graaff Reinet collided head-on with the bakkie travelling from Kariega.
He says the driver and his passenger from the truck died on the scene, while the driver of the bakkie and two of his passengers, a man and a woman, were declared dead on the scene.
Another three passengers in the bakkie sustained injuries and were taken to the Uitenhage Provincial Hospital.
The cause of the accident is not yet known and will form part of the police investigation.
The names and ages of the deceased cannot yet be released.
