There is a welcome prospect of some good rainfall across the Eastern Cape from Thursday evening right through the weekend.
Garth Sampson at the PE Branch of the SA Weather Service says this is particularly good news for the areas around Makhanda, Fort Beaufort, Cradock and Patensie which have experienced an exceptionally dry summer.
He says both Fort Beaufort and Makhanda experienced the lowest rainfall on record for the Summer months of December to February, while the rain will be a welcome relief for farmers in the Patensie district who've endured the second driest summer on record.
Sampson says residents in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro can expect a cold front with overnight showers south of the escarpment from Thursday onwards.
He says the rain, which is expected to last for about five days, will also fall in the catchment areas.
