Port Elizabeth police have arrested five suspects in Kensington for the illegal possession of abalone.
Colonel Priscilla Naidu says members of the police's K9 Unit were on routine patrols, when they received information of suspicious activity at a house in Byron Street on Wednesday afternoon.
She says the police members went through the neighbour's property and then entered through the back of the house.
Naidu says six people, including a woman,were in the house.
She says police confiscated 531 units of abalone with an estimated value of R36 000.
Wet suits and other equipment were also confiscated.
Those arrested are expected to appear in court soon.
