Walter Sisulu Univeristy in Mthatha will be hosting its first ever Gay Pride Parade on Friday.
Its being organised as part of LGBTI's Rainbow Month.
The organisation's coordinator at Walter Sisulu University, Mawethu Zitha, says there will also be different activities to promote gender equality and to ensure that hate crimes are eradicated at the University.
Zitha says they want to create a healthy environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender students and staff.
"Last year we heard that some students feel stigmatised by others. We have dialogues with the students to understand that we are diverse in the institution. We also handle cases, because sometimes the LGBTI community might feel stigmatised where some students of staff might not understand them. We also provide sensitization to the LGBTI community and the WSU community at large, so that they can understand this issue of homosexuality" she said.
