Fingerprints confirm identity of Bay woman found burnt beyond recognition

Gqeberha police can now confirm that a body they discovered in the bushes on the old Coega Road last month was indeed that of a missing woman.

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the 35-year-old Ayanda Dupa-Emenaha's body was burnt beyond recognition and fingerprints now confirmed her identity.

She says Dupa-Emenaha, who worked at the harbour, dropped off a co-worker in Rink Street and said she was making a stop first in Westbourne Road.

Col Naidu says Ayanda never arrived home and her white Toyota Etios was found abandoned on the old Coega Road the following day.

She says her husband filed a missing persons report at the Humewood police station.

The morning after her vehicle was found the K9 Search and Rescue Unit found Dupa-Emenaha's body about 30 meters from her car.

Colonel Naidu says none of her personal belongings were at the crime scene.

No further details as to the motive for the murder are available and a murder docket is under investigation.
