Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan says the financial position in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro is reasonably sound.
Gordhan and Co-operative governance Minister Solomon Tsenoli were addressing the media at City Hall on Monday, following a meeting about the general state of the metro and the issue around the controversial intergrated public transport network.
Gordhan said a team will be set up to review some of the ratios on finances.
"We have ensured as the two ministers and the province that we will set up a team together with the city to review some of the ratios on the finances and make sure the city continues to progress in the right direction." said Gordhan
He added that legal issues surrounding the IPTS should be clarified in less than a month
"We have agreed that we will set up a joint team to clarify all of the legal issues, and in less than a month we hope we'll have absolute certainty on where we going on that matter."
"We will set up a task team of officials not only on the financial side but in other areas where the city might require assistance,in the human settlements department or other departments at a national level which Minister Tsenoli will co-ordinate so that we can support the city on issues, for example eradicating the bucket system."
