Final arguments in Avril Gordon assault-case

The defence for a Port Elizabeth man charged with the brutal assault of his wife delivered final arguments in the city's magistrates court on Monday.

Defence attorney, Ramona Van Vuuren under instruction of her client Frederick Gordon argued that medical reports of his wife Avril's injuries were in fact false.

Half way through proceedings Frederick took it upon himself to deliver his own argument for Magistrate Chris Kruger.

Gordon continued to deny that he had anything to do with her severe injuries, he went on to highlight up to one-hundred and forty irregularities in evidence brought on by state witnesses.

Gordon asked Kruger to throw the case out of court and in addition threatened to being forward a defamation of character law suit against the prosecution.

Gordon referred to photo's and articles published in the media as a 'nationwide fraud' for financial gain.

Frederick Gordon is facing charges of attempted murder, rape and kidnapping, he has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The case was postponed until the 30th of July for judgement.
