The East London Industrial Development Zone Corporation has announced plans to build a new R50m metal surface treatment plant at the IDZ.
CEO, Simphiwe Kondlo, says the new plant is already under construction and will be operational by June next year.
He says the plant will be ready to support the trial builds for Mercedes Benz SA's component suppliers.
Kondlo says the new facility will have huge spin-offs for the auto-sector in the region, attracting new suppliers and increasing local automotive content for motor manufacturers.
