FIFA fraud allegations-DA wants Jordaan to answer

As the storm over the arrest of several FIFA officials in Zurich, Switzerland continues, the DA says it wants Jordaan to explain allegations that South Africa's 2010 Bid Committee facilitated bribes to secure the hosting rights for the 2010 World Cup.

DA MP, Solly Malatsi, says its a national shame that one of the proudest moments for our democratic nation has been tarnished by this latest scandal.

He says as the CEO of the Bid Committee, Jordaan oversaw the 2010 bid strategy.

Malatsi says his role in these allegations must be probed.

"We have written to the Chairperson of the portfolio committee on Sport and Recreation to summon Dr Jordaan in his capacity as the President of SAFA to provide explanations on these bribery allegations regarding the 2010 World Cup. He was the CEO at the time." he said

It was reported that a South African official had allegedly paid over a $10 million dollar bribe to Fifa officials to ensure that the country won the bid.
