Police in Thornhill, west of Port Elizabeth have launched a manhunt for four suspects who allegedly fired several shots at a man and his son inside their home on Monday night.
Spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart says the 57-year-old father and his 18-year-old son suddenly heard gunshots and stones being thrown through the windows of their home.
She says the two managed to run to the bedroom to activate the alarm.
The father, however, was hit in the leg by one of the bullets.
Swart says it is believed that the alarm scared off the suspects who ran in the direction of the N2.
Nothing was stolen from the property.
A case of attempted murder is under investigation.
