Two suspects are in police custody following an attack on a farmer and his son on their farm in Bluewater in the Amathole District on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson Captain Hazel Mqala says five suspects assaulted the duo before stealing personal belongings, a safe and three vehicles.
She says a beige Land Cruiser, a white Toyota Hilux and a white VW Polo, was taken by the suspects fleeing the scene.
Captain Mqala says an off-duty K9 member from East London alerted his colleagues that the suspects were heading towards East London.
A concerned community group spotted the cars travelling between Mooiplaas and the Brakfontein off-ramps, and a car chase ensued.
Captain Mqala says three suspects in the white Polo collided with a Quantum on the Beacon Bay Retail Park off-ramp and rolled.
She says the occupants in the taxi sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital by paramedics.
On the N2, not far from the scene, the Land Cruiser also lost control and crashed on a rail.
The Green Scorpions apprehended two men aged 25 and 29 and recovered two firearms.
Three more suspects, who stole the Hilux, remain at large.
The suspects in custody will be charged with house robbery, assault and theft of motor vehicles.
Agri EC confirmed that the farmer is one of their members.
Spokesperson Jason Kümm condemned the attack.
He also thanked the local farmers and community who worked together using technology such as CCTV cameras that assisted in getting information to the police to make swift arrests.
