The family of a missing 48-year-old triathlete from Gabon is offering a R12 000 reward to anyone with information on his whereabouts.
David Roger Rene Bellet-Brissaud disappeared from the Paxton Hotel on the Port Elizabeth beachfront in the early hours of Friday morning.
He had arrived in the city on Thursday with his wife Jessica to take part in Sunday's Standard Bank Ironman Africa Championship.
She told a media briefing at the Paxton on Monday that David had seemed happy on Thursday afternoon but was quieter than usual on Thursday evening.
Jessica said that she woke up around 1 am on Friday morning and realised that he was gone.
CCTV footage showed him walking out of the Paxton a short while earlier, leaving his cell phone and wallet behind.
His brother, Gael said they're totally mystified at David's disappearance adding that his brother did not smoke, drink or hang out at nightclubs.
"He lived for his sport," he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigating officer - Warrant Officer Eric Matthews at the Humewood police station on 041 5045019 or on his cell number 083 380 3714
