George police have warned residents of Thembalethu to be alert to what they believe is fake money circulating in the area.
Police spokesperson, Captain Dumile Gwavu, says the suspect notes were brought to police this week by members of the community.
He said the notes were blue in colour, had the same serial numbers and had completely different silver linings to an original R100 note.
Gwavu said they will be sent for further testing.
He has also appealed to anyone who believes that they may unwittingly be in possession of fake notes to report this to the police.
