Excavator stolen in Gqeberha

Police in Gqeberha are investigating a case of theft after a Caterpillar Excavator worth R1.5 million was stolen in Kwadwesi.

Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says the machine was parked on a piece of land near the Chatty Dip on Friday for work to be done after the weekend.

He says when the owners arrived on the scene on Monday morning the machine was missing.

This is not the first time such equipment has been stolen and it is widely suspected that a syndicate is involved.
