Alleged Hogsback killers abandon bid for bail

supplied

Three suspects made a brief appearance in the Cathcart Magistrate's Court on Monday morning in connection with the murder of two former Fort Hare University Lecturers from Hogsback.

Sakhele Limba, Silindokuhle Mangali and Wanda Limba are between the ages of 23 and 33 and indicated to the court that they would be abandoning their bail application.

They were remanded in custody and will be back in court on the 30th of January.

The bodies of 66-year-old Judith Masters and her 50-year-old partner Fabian Genin were found in their Hogsback home on the 3rd of October with their hands and feet bound with cable ties.

They had no visible injuries.

The Provincial Organised Crime Unit in the Eastern Cape arrested the three suspects in late November.

It is understood that the men are not from Hogsback but from villages in the valley.

A small group of concerned Hogsback residents gathered outside the court on Monday.

They carried placards which called for an end to killings and GBV and for no bail to be granted to murderers.
