The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is yet to decide whether a Gqeberha woman, who allegedly hatched an elaborate plan to kill her ex-husband, will be tried in the High Court.
Ethel Noqekwa, 47, who has been charged with the murder of doctor Bantu Noqekwa, 56, appeared briefly in the New Brighton Magistrates Court on Monday.
The court heard that the police had completed their investigation and that it was now up to the DPP to decide whether the trial would be moved to the High Court.
Ethel was released on bail in the Gqeberha High Court in December, on appeal, when a Judge overturned the decision of a New Brighton Magistrate who had denied her bail.
Dr Bantu Noqekwa was shot execution-style at his surgery in Zwide in May.
Ethel allegedly plotted his demise with the assistance of a middleman, who has since turned state witness.
The court previously heard that her son was let in on the murder plot as he was the executor of the deceased's estate, which meant he would have to release the hitmen's compensation.
The couple's firstborn was allegedly in agreement with his mother.
Her four co-accused, Andile Jongi, Siyabulela Gcayiya, Athule Mtyobile and Mphumzi Ndzimela, is still in custody, pending the trial.
The case was remanded to 12 April.
