A Mossel Bay resident made his first court appearance on Monday following his arrest on child pornography charges.
The 25-year-old man was the 8th person to be arrested since November last year in an international investigation involving America's Homeland Security.
The suspect was arrested at his home in Da Nova last week in a joint operation by the police's Serial and Electronic Crime Unit.
The focus of the investigation is to track down producers, consumers and distributors of child pornography.
The man in custody is facing 44 charges with the possibility of more being added.
The matter was postponed to the 23 of February for the suspect to apply for bail, which the state will oppose.
In January three more suspects were arrested in Worcester, Kraaifontein and Mitchells Plain.
National Police Spokesperson Brigadier Mathe says a 32-year-old man from Mitchell's Plain was found to be chatting to girls where nude pictures were exchanged and he was arrested on 19 January.
She says that 48 hours before his arrest DHS captured two more men in the Cape Town Area.
Brigadier Mathe says on the 17th a 53-year-old man from Worcester was the first to be arrested and he has so far been found with 95 000 images and 6 000 videos of child pornography.
She says the second arrest was a 40-year-old man from Kraaifontein found with more than 149,000 pictures and 5,000 videos.
