Eskom in the Eastern Cape says it has restored electricity supply to 5000 of the 10 000 customers affected by outages after a storm lashed the Nkonkobe Municipality at Fort Beaufort.
The power utility says Eskom technicians continue to work hard to repair electricity disruptions to the remaining 5 000 affected areas in Alice, Debenek, Binfield, Hogsback and Dutywa.
Eskom is appealing to affected customers for their patience but also cautioned that customers should treat all electrical connections, including low hanging or broken conductors, as live and dangerous and should not to touch or move them.
