Eskom implements Stage 2 loadshedding for Wednesday 16 October

Power utility Eskom says it will more than likely implement Stage 2 loadshedding from now until 11 pm tonight.

The Utility says this is due to a shortage in capacity.

The CEO of ESKOM Jabu Mabuza told South Africans last month that they could not guarantee a summer without loadshedding

He says the winter showed positive results but the utility would now have to focus on the summer period.

Mabuza says Summer comes with its own set of challenges such as higher temperatures which will result in appliances (such as fans) to be on an entire day.

In Winter, Eskom is capable of planning maintenance work during non-peak times but in summer the patterns from consumers are different and therefore it becomes more of a challenge
