Two members of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Gqeberha were robbed at gunpoint in front of the Kwazakhele Clinic on Monday morning.
The incident happened at around 08:30 am, shortly after the workers had transported a patient to the clinic in Befile Street and were making their way out of the yard.
The robbery happened in front of the clinic.
Health Department Spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said the workers was confronted by six gunmen who robbed them of their personal belongings like their wallets and cell phones.
"The crew members were not harmed, but they are shaken up by the ordeal.
"We are concerned about the situation because it is ongoing. We condemn it."
Kupelo has appealed to the community to work with law enforcement agencies to put and end to the crimes.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge confirmed the incident.
Beetge said the suspects also attempted to drive off with the marked vehicle (ambulance) but abandoned it and fled on foot.
