Three employees from a bread company are expected to appear in the Sterkspruit Magistrates Court on Monday after they were caught lying about being hijacked.
Spokesperson Captain Ursula Roelofse says on Saturday afternoon, the truck driver reported at SAPS Sterkspruit and said his two crew members and himself were stopped by five suspects in a white Ford bakkie in Herschel.
She says the employees said they managed to run away but when they returned, they found the safe and money missing from the truck.
Captain Roelofse says during the preliminary investigation, police searched the truck and found money hidden amongst the crates of bread.
She says they could not provide a reasonable explanation for the hidden cash and were arrested for perjury.
The men are aged 29, 38 and 48.
