The Eastern Cape Health Department confirmed that its emergency phone lines, will soon be up and running.
Residents across the province could not reach any ambulance on the designated emergency number for two weeks.
This was due to the Eastern Cape Health Department's failure to pay the service provider.
Health Department spokesperson, Mkhululi Ndamase thanked the public for their understanding and said an agreement was reached with the service provider.
Last month, an emergency worker, who wanted to stay anonymous said people in the community were dying because they could not get through to an ambulance.
The worker said he feared that this could put the lives of medics at risk because angry residents in highly charged situations do not want to hear any excuses.
He also mentioned an incident where an undertaker had travelled to the EMS headquarters with a body when he could not reach them via telephone.
