A 23-year-old suspect who allegedly broke into an elderly woman's house in Willowmore on Sunday was arrested in the Western Cape.
Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa says it is alleged that an 84-year-old woman who lives on a farm outside town heard noises on her roof.
She says when the elderly woman went to investigate she found the man standing in her kitchen.
Mawisa says the suspect cut off the telephone cables of the house and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
She says the victim was pushed onto the floor and sustained injuries.
Almost 12 hours later the victim's daughter arrived at the house and found her mother still on the floor.
Swift police work led to the speedy arrest of the suspect after a case was opened on Monday.
Lieutenant Colonel Mawisa says he was nabbed at De Rust in the Western Cape and will be brought back to Willomore to appear in court on Thursday.
