Elderly woman, hacked to death in Dutywa

Eastern Cape police are investigating a murder case after an elderly woman was hacked to death in Dutywa on Thursday night.

Butterworth police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha says it is alleged that a man, who was wearing a balaclava and armed with an axe, went to the home of the 85- year-old, where he allegedly attacked her.

Manatha says she died instantly.

He says the deceased was with her relative when she was murdered.

Manatha says the suspect run away and is still at large.
