Police in Whittlesea are investigating a case of murder after the body of an elderly woman from Tarkastad was found in Whittelsea near the road between Mbekweni and Oxton Monday.
Police spokesperson Colonel Sibongile Soci says the woman was identified as the 87 year old Lettie Rupping.
Police were alerted by her neighbours in Tarkastad on Sunday that something was wrong at her house. Her house was locked and her vehicle missing.
The stolen vehicle was recovered in Cradock.
No arrests have been made and police are appealing with anybody with information to come forward.
