Port Elizabeth police are searching for three suspects, after a 79-year-old man was robbed at his smallholding in Lakeside Road, Chelsea on Friday evening.
Spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu says it is alleged that he was surprised by three unknown men when he let out his dog.
She says when he opened the door, one of the suspects threatened him with a firearm and took him inside.
His hands and feet were bound with electrical cords.
Naidu says they ransacked the house and took various household items with an approximate value of R15 000.
She says it is further alleged that the suspects took his cellphone, and while they may have been tampering with it, they dialled his daughter’s number and when she answered, the call was cut off.
The daughter became suspicious and after calling back and receiving no answer, she went to the house and found her father still tied up.
Police are investigating a case of house robbery.
