Police in Gqeberha are looking for three suspects who tied up an elderly man in his house on Thionville Road in Lorraine in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says at about 4 am the 77-year-old man woke up from noises by his window and saw a suspect entering his room.
He says the man tried to fight the intruder when two more suspects gained entry into the house.
Beetge says they demanded the homeowner to stop fighting and proceeded to tie up his hands and feet before throwing a blanket over his head.
He says the suspects found the man's safe and continued to the garage where they got implements to break it open.
They stole two firearms and a small amount of cash.
A case of house robbery is under investigation.
