A 72-year-old man and a woman found in possession of Mandrax with a street value of around R1.2 million appeared in the Kimberley Magistrate's Court on Monday.
The National Prosecuting Authority in the Northern Cape says the matter was postponed to the 8th of September for a formal bail application.
The pair was arrested in Kimberley on Saturday, on a train from Johannesburg en route to Cape Town.
The elderly man and a 49-year-old woman were found in possession of more than 12-thousand Mandrax tablets which were contained in two bags.
