Aliwal North police are investigating the murder of a local resident who was found dead in his home on Sunday night.
Captain Ursula Roelofse says 78-year-old Sam van der Westhuizen was found by his neighbours after he was last seen over the weekend.
She said he had visible wounds to the head and upper body.
Captain Roelofse says Van Der Westhuizen's red Isuzu bakkie, with the registration BGM 931 EC, is missing.
Investigators are appealing to the public to be on the lookout for the bakkie, and if spotted should contact their nearest police station.
