Police in Ngqeleni in the Eastern Cape are searching for the killer of an 83-year-old woman who was shot dead at Godini Locality in Ngqeleni on Friday night.
Police spokesperson, Captain Dineo Koena, said that “an unknown balaclava-clad gunman, who was hiding near the deceased homestead, accosted a 40-year-old man who was on his way home, pointed a firearm at him and ordered him to knock on the door of deceased.”
She said when the woman, who lived alone, opened the door, the gunman shot her several times.
Koena said the gunmen fled and the victim’s relative raised the alarm.
“One projectile of a pistol was picked up from the scene. The motive for her killing is not known yet and a murder case has been opened,” said Captain Koena.
