Police in Middelburg in the Karoo are investigating the death of and elderly woman whose body was found in the kitchen of her home over the weekend.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Elizabeth van Eck says 72-year-old Louisa Francis shared the home with her husband and disabled daughter.
Neighbours, who often brought food for the family, arrived at the home on Sunday, when the daughter showed them to the kitchen where the body was lying.
The deceased had stab wounds to her arm and shoulder.
Van Eck says a postmortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death, and no-one has been arrested.
