Three men who appeared in court yesterday for a farm attack in Nqanqarhu (Maclear) will now be charged with murder.
This follows the death of 74-year-old Francis Davidson who was brutally assaulted on his farm in April this year.
Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the suspects were arrested two days after the brutal attack which left Davidson with burn wounds to his upper body.
She says Thembelani Mazibuko, 40, Yamnkelani Fanaphi, 23 and Andile Dyani, 28 have been remanded in custody.
It is alleged that the three men tied up and assaulted Davidson on his farm Whoa-Ha near the Port River Bridge, before demanding money.
The suspects allegedly made food for themselves before leaving the crime scene, loading their goods in Davidson's bakkie.
The bakkie was found torched in the Tsitsana Katkop area.
Colonel Naidu says since the arrest a TV, generator, clothing, laptop and other household goods were recovered.
Davidson was in ICU since the attack and died on Tuesday.
Davidson was tied up and assaulted over his body by three men who broke into the farmhouse.
She said Davidson's son went to the farm Whoa-Ha near the Port River Bridge on Thursday morning to check on his father.
