Police in Gqeberha are seeking assistance in tracing a 66-year-old woman who went missing while looking for her vagrant son last week.

Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says, Bernadette January, has been missing since Thursday after leaving the Louis Dubb Old Age Home in Kabega Park.

She says January may have gone to the Summerstrand area in search of her son who is a vagrant and lives on the street.

“It is alleged that he is usually found on the beachfront [and] that was the last time anyone had seen her.”

She says police have been searching the beachfront area every day since January was reported missing and there is no sign of her or her son.

Naidu says January is a diabetic and had not taken any medication with her.

She says anyone who may recognise her or may know of her whereabouts is asked to contact SAPS Kabega Park, D/Sgt Chimone Freeman on 041 3976801 or082 302 6159 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
