An East London woman had a lucky escape Monday morning when she apparently missed a bend in the harbour and her vehicle ended up in the Buffalo River.
Police spokesperson, captain Steven Marais, says the incident happened just before seven when the woman entered the harbour on the West Bank side near the ski-boat club.
He says its still unclear what led to the events, but she apparantly missed the turn, went over an embankment and into the water.
Two fishermen alerted the police after the vehicle went over them. The victim is stable and was taken to hospital.
Marais says a team from Port Alfred will bring a flotation device to enable the police to remove the woman's car from the water.
